Charles Sarazin

A person becomes a designer because he/she has an intuitive flair, but he/she becomes a designer of merit through a long process of evolvement and involvement. The eye is what needs training, through care and constant investigation.” (Charles Sarazin, Algonquin College Architectural Diploma)

I started working in the design industry in 1982 gathering a lot of experience in the various fields along the way.

Starting at Martineau and Martineau Architects, I designed decorative ceilings for a huge museum in Algeria.

The following years at Minto Construction I was involved in doing working drawings, design and project management.

With Richard Limmert Architect, again I worked design and working drawings.
Subsequently I was offered a position with Wedgewood Building Corporation where I was in charge of their architectural department. Here I gained massive experience in design and management of the architectural staff.

Back in an architect’s office, Emmell Architects, my work varied from designing, meeting clients, inspecting sites and office management.

My next venture was to work for City of Ottawa municipality where I held various positions which included:

  • Building Code Plan Examiner
  • Zoning Plan Examiner
  • Design Committee Presenter, which led to retirement

After being retired for a year, I decided to go back to a field that I always had a passion for. I joined Dreamcatcher Residential and Commercial Design.
